Your magic cookbook
How Reveal Recipe works
Reveal Recipe turns any recipe web page into just the ingredients and the steps, with no ads, pop-ups or life stories. It takes about a minute, it's free, and you don't need an account.
-
Copy the recipe's link
Open the recipe on any website and copy its address from the browser's address bar or share menu.
-
Paste it into Reveal Recipe
Paste the link into the box on the homepage and press Reveal. On a desktop browser, the one-click bookmarklet does this for you; on Android, share the page to the installed app.
-
Read just the recipe
Reveal Recipe pulls out the recipe and shows the ingredients, steps, times, rating and nutrition on one clean page, with a link back to the original creator.
-
Scale it and pick your units
Change the servings to scale every ingredient, and switch between US and metric units; oven temperatures convert too. Cups of flour, sugar, butter and other common ingredients become grams.
-
Cook hands-free
Turn on cook mode for bigger text, tap-to-tick ingredients and steps, and a screen that stays awake. Tap a time in a step, like “25 minutes”, to start a timer that rings when it's done.
-
Save it to your cookbook
Save the recipe to keep a full copy that opens offline. Add notes and tags, group recipes into collections, and mark what you've made with your own star rating. You can edit a saved recipe, reorder its ingredients and steps, and add a photo from a link, your camera or your photo library. The link back to the original site stays. You can also write in your own recipes.
-
Add it to your shopping list
Add the ingredients to a shopping list that groups them by supermarket aisle and follows the servings and units you picked. The same ingredient from two recipes becomes one line. Rename the aisles to match your store, and check or uncheck every line. Share it or print it when you head out. You can also plan the week from saved recipes and add that week's ingredients in one step.
Install it on your phone or computer
Reveal Recipe is a web app you can install: use your browser's Install or Add to Home Screen option. Installed, it opens like an app, keeps your saved recipes, shopping list and week plan available offline, and on Android it shows up in the Share menu of other apps. On an iPhone, adding it to your Home Screen also keeps your cookbook from being cleared after a week away.
Reveal from the iPhone share sheet
iPhone has no share target for an installed web app. A Shortcut does the same job in two taps.
- Open Shortcuts and create a shortcut that receives URLs from the Share Sheet.
- Add Open URL. Set it to https://www.revealrecipe.com/?url= followed by the shortcut input, then &utm_source=ios-shortcut.
- Name it Reveal and turn on Show in Share Sheet. From Safari, share a recipe link to Reveal.
Your recipes, on every device you choose
Everything you save lives in this browser on your device, not on our servers. To have the same cookbook on your phone and your computer, sign in with Google on both; it syncs through your own Google Drive. Signing in is optional. More answers are in the FAQ.
