What Reveal Recipe keeps, and where
The short version: your cookbook is yours. It lives on your device, and if you sign in with Google, in your own Google Drive. We don't keep a copy and there is no database of users.
On your device
Your saved recipes, notes, tags, ratings, collections, recently viewed recipes, shopping list, week plan and settings are stored in your browser on this device. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes them, so sign in or export your cookbook first if you want to keep it.
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional. It's how the same cookbook appears on your phone, tablet and computer. When you sign in, Google asks you to allow two things:
- Your name, email address and profile picture, so the app can show who is signed in.
- Access to a private app folder in your Google Drive. Reveal Recipe keeps one file there with everything listed above. It can't see or open any of your other Drive files, and the folder doesn't appear in your Drive's file list.
Your browser talks to Google directly. The sign-in and the synced copy never pass through our servers, and we never see your cookbook or your Google password. The file also lists the kinds of devices you use, such as "iPhone" or "Mac", so the app can tell you where your cookbook is.
Signing out and deleting your copy
Open Sign in (You, once you're signed in) to sign out. You can keep the recipes on that device or remove them. The same page can delete the copy in your Google Drive; your other signed-in devices keep what they already have. To remove Reveal Recipe's access entirely, remove it from the third-party apps list in your Google Account's security settings. Google Drive's settings, under Manage apps, can also delete its hidden app data.
How we treat data from your Google Account
Reveal Recipe uses your Google name, email address and picture only to show who is signed in, and its Google Drive folder only to keep your cookbook in sync between your devices. That data stays in your browser and your Google Account. We don't sell it, share it, use it for advertising, or let anyone read it. Reveal Recipe's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy (opens in a new tab), including the Limited Use requirements.
When you reveal a recipe
Our server fetches the one page you asked for, reads its recipe and sends it back to you. It keeps a short-lived copy of that recipe only to answer repeat requests quickly. The request isn't tied to your sign-in or your cookbook.
Analytics
Reveal Recipe counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. It also counts a few actions (a recipe revealed, a recipe saved, cook mode, the shopping list, a copied share link, an install) on its own server. Those counts are totals. They are not tied to you, and they do not include the recipe, your notes or your email address. When the counter store is configured, the totals are kept in Cloudflare Workers KV so a restart does not wipe them.
